From Paid Family Leave to fighting corruption, Councilmember Elissa Silverman is one of DC’s leading champions for transparent, accountable government. Today she announced she’s on the team to put people first in Ward 4.
Here’s part of what she said:
“I think a council member has three essential duties: deliver constituent services, develop legislation and enact laws that will improve the lives of residents, and perform rigorous oversight so your taxpayer dollars are well spent. I know that Janeese will continue the tradition of strong constituent services for Ward 4. But she will also be an assertive, strong voice for Ward 4 in legislative debate, and she will make sure that Ward 4’s tax dollars are spent wisely. Her background as a Howard University-trained lawyer, her experience working as an Assistant Attorney General, and her lifelong commitment to public service will serve our city well. She grew up in Manor Park, and she returned to Ward 4 to create an even better future for her family and her neighbors.”
Councilmembers know better than anyone what’s working well on DC Council and how the Council can work better. With her endorsement Councilmember Silverman joins more than 25 organizations and leaders who are ready for Ward 4 to have a leader who will put people first.
It’s going to take all of us working together to make change happen on June 2. I am incredibly proud to have Councilmember Silverman, so many other endorsing allies as part of that effort.
